The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) will hold a media conference on Wednesday, November 28 to call for better safety measures for front-line registered nurses in the wake of the most recent attacks on front-line nurses in the workplace.
ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN will be joined by Danielle Latulippe-Larmand, RN, the ONA Bargaining Unit President for the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) where three nurses were recently attacked.
During the week of November 12, two of the nurses suffered critical injuries that occurred in the attacks, while a third has suffered injuries not requiring surgery.
Haslam-Stroud will address the issue of workplace violence, which has been occurring with escalating frequency in health-care workplaces across Ontario. Latulippe-Larmand will comment on the impact these attacks have had on her members.
ONA is the union representing 53,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals working in Ontario hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community and industry.
