Video: Cyberstalking Added To Code Of Conduct

While bullying has always been a problem at schools, officials said there’s online bullying to worry about.

Officials said students who harass or intimidate each other online during school hours at school will be penalized.

The move comes after three DeLand Middle School students allegedly used the Internet to organize a plan to attack their school.

One of the students, Austin Mohr, said on Tuesday that he was bullied and used the computer to retaliate.

That’s why Volusia County Schools Superintendent Dr. Margaret Smith believes tackling the issue of cyberstalking is so important.

“We can’t cure all of society’s problems, problems in the home, problems in the community, but certainly during school times, school activities, the school day on our school property, anything that occurs during those times,” Smith said.

The School Board said if any online threats are made from beyond the school’s jurisdiction, school officials will notify authorities.
