With the fabric of Wall Street unraveling as a result of the subprime mortgage crisis, professional financial advisors are increasingly interested in ways they can successfully manage client and staff stress. In an effort to assist graduates of The American College’s world class educational programs during these volatile times, the institution’s Alumni Association announced today that it is offering a free webinar on how to deal effectively with employee stress and client emotional outbursts while simultaneously preventing workplace violence.

“Clients can become very upset when the market conditions adversely affect their life savings,” said Larry Barton, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of The American College. “Angry customers create anxiety for the financial advisor and office staff. This seminar is designed to help professionals successfully navigate the emotional minefields created by unsettling financial developments.”

Barton, an expert in crisis management and author of Soundview Executive Summaries’ “Best Business Book of 2008″, Crisis Leadership Now, will share his expertise with webinar participants along with Dr. Alan F. Friedman, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Northwestern University Medical School. Topics to be discussed during the webinar include:

- Ten warning signs of a client who could move from threat to violence.

- Proven approaches for managing stress for your team and your clients.

- How being prepared for the unexpected can save your business.

- The emotional key to retaining clients in difficult times.

The webinar, “Volatile Times, Volatile Clients: Managing Emotions in This Economy,” is scheduled to take place on January 5, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and is open exclusively to registered members of The American College Alumni Association.
