6 Ways to Identify an Employee in Need of Anger Management

Press Release from PR.com

In the wake of two devastating workplace violence incidents, Atlanta-based AidevO People Consulting, LLC, a counseling and consulting firm that specializes in workplace anger and conflict, offers businesses and organizations six signs that may indicate an employee’s need for anger management services.

Over the past six months several incidents of workplace violence occurred around the Southeast, including a February 11 shooting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a February 10 shooting of two principals at a Knoxville, Tenn. elementary school. This on top of recent tragedies in Georgia, Missouri and Texas.

“Unfortunately, many times managers and other co-workers around the perpetrator of workplace violence can often tell of the signs that they saw prior to the incident,” Neca C. Smith, Owner of AidevO People Consulting stated. “Too often much of the work is done after workplace violence has occurred, and not much attention is paid to preventive measures that could be taken such as workplace anger management and conflict management services.”

Smith, a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS) and a Certified Professional in Managing Workplace Conflict, has identified six signs to refer an employee to anger management services:

- Intimidation of others
- Control over others by manipulation
- Adverse reaction to constructive criticism
- Unreasonable expectations of others
- Sense of entitlement
- History of disciplinary action

Should any manager or employee recognize any of these signs, seek consultation with an organization that can provide expertise and customized solutions in the matter.
