Ontario: Webinar to Help Businesses Comply With Bill 168

Press Release from marketwire.com

Shepell·fgi, Canada’s leading provider of integrated health and productivity solutions, is hosting a webinar, Bill 168: What Every Business Needs to Know, on September 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Since Bill 168 came into effect on June 15, 2010, many organizations have found themselves in non-compliance with the new law. The Ontario Ministry of Labour has begun to issue work orders and to fine employers across the province for non-compliance.

The webinar will help employers become better informed about how to align their policies, programs, and workplaces with the new legislation to achieve compliance.

“Implementing the necessary changes can be very complex and time consuming,” said Paula Allen, VP, Organizational Solutions, Shepell·fgi. “Employers need to understand their legal obligations to protect their organization from vulnerability to workplace violence and harassment, and non-compliance penalties, including significant fines.”

Shepell·fgi’s webinar will provide senior HR leaders with insights into the changing Canadian landscape with respect to workplace violence, offer a greater understanding of Bill 168 and its unique provisions, and deliver insight into what it means for employers.

“Workplace violence and harassment is a serious issue in Canada with serious consequences for individuals and the bottom line,” said Allen. “Compliance with Bill 168 is a necessary step in ensuring that employers are doing their part in reducing the risk of violence and harassment in their workplaces.”
