International Bullying Prevention Association together with the Center for Safe Schools aims to support and enhance quality research based bullying prevention principles and practices in order to achieve a safe school climate, healthy work environment, good citizenship and civic responsibility.

The Hope for a More Peaceful World 2009 Conference will showcase current evidence based practices and resources that assist school personnel and community practitioners to create safe learning and neighborhood environments free from bullying behaviors, thereby nurturing the highest social and academic potential of all students. Conference participants will represent multiple disciplines and professions involved in working towards enhancing bullying prevention and intervention plans for schools and those individuals who are impacted by acts of bullying.

The conference will bring together educators, physical and mental health professionals, policymakers, law enforcement officers, attorneys, researchers, parents, college students, school board members, prevention specialists and others. Workshop sessions will share research findings and present practical strategies that can be implemented to improve bullying prevention and intervention practices.

Hope for a More Peaceful World Conference goals are:

- To disseminate the latest developments in research;

- To facilitate an ongoing exchange about issues related to evidence based practices of bullying prevention by individuals with different experiences and viewpoints.

Conference presenting sponsor is Highmark Healthy High 5, an initiative of the Highmark Foundation. The conference is presented in partnership by the International Bullying Prevention Association, the Center for Safe Schools and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
